Spray-on Ceramic Coatings - A Miracle

Ceramic coating is presently the hottest trend in the boat detailing industry because of its exceptional performance. It doesn’t only provide a beautiful polished look for your boat but it enhances a lot of features like performance, damage resistance, and surface durability.

But have you ever heard of a spray-on ceramic coating? The simple answer is that a spray-on coating is a cheaper version of the traditional ceramic coating used by certified applicators. Compared with the latter, it doesn’t require a lot of tools for application.

A DIY Starter Kit might be helpful when you have a spray-on ceramic coating. If you want a quick fix for your boat that lasts up to one year, you’ll definitely love the effects of a spray-on ceramic coating.

To have a better understanding of how to use it, we have prepared the following steps on how to apply a spray-on ceramic coating.

Step 1: Clean your boat thoroughly

The quality of prep work prior to the application makes or breaks the final result of the spray-on ceramic coating. When washing is done superficially, the ceramic coating may not properly adhere to the surface because of some particulate matter that has stubbornly got stuck onto it.

So, start by washing your boat with fresh water. Use professional boat cleaners to strip away invisible surface contaminants, sealants, waxes, or glaze. Finish it off by drying the surface with a clean, super absorbent towel. Towels made of wood shavings can make a great material for drying surfaces because they don’t leave particles on your boat. But avoid mats made of sheets of paper or plastic fibers because they don’t absorb much water.

Step 2: Apply the coating

Shake the coating bottle to mix well and then spray it on the applicator cloth and sponge. Wrap the sponge with the cloth and wipe it on the target area. Some spray-on coating simply allows you to directly spray the coat on the surface, which is easier and faster.

When spraying the coat on your boat’s surface, let it sit for a few minutes until it starts getting glossy. Then wipe the area with a microfiber towel to shine.

Step 3: Let it dry

Once you’ve got all areas of your boat covered, it’s time to let everything dry.

The spray-on ceramic coating usually dries up for 24 hours in a covered area. If you take your boat directly to the water after application, the water will erode whatever you’ve put on your boat.

With that said, it is good to allow some time to apply spray-on coating on your boat before a big event. In fact, some boat owners prefer not to use their boats 1 to 2 weeks after applying a ceramic coating. This gives the coating an ample amount of time to fully dry up and harden before being exposed to various elements in the water.

Why Do Boat Owners Use Spray-On Ceramic Coating?

Spray-on ceramic coating is a fast and easy solution for small boats. It offers a quick fix at a great value for money. If you follow these three easy steps we have listed above, you will definitely enjoy a great result.

The best takeaway? You’ll save a great deal of money for your break. So, is a spray-on ceramic coating worth it for your boat? Absolutely… yes!
